February 14 Update - Read All About It!

    The Southern Virginia (SoVa) taskforce is pleased to extend a partnership opportunity to you as a regional workforce service provider to exhibit and attend the third Workforce Solutions Summit. The event will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. An exhibit table plus one complimentary admission is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional registrations are $50 per person and will include breakfast and lunch.

    This year’s event will address current employer concerns, highlight best practice solutions, and provide opportunities to emerge in a better competitive position with a more qualified and dedicated team. You will also be able to network with regional businesses, education providers, and workforce services professionals. The summit will address topics such as:

    •       “Retaining Talent” by Elizabeth Veliz, Chief People Officer, Cayuga Health Systems
    •        Business & Retention Incentives by Shirley Dodson, Business Services Manager, VEDP
    •        Success stories in manufacturing, career support services, and K-12 achievements by local panel of speakers 

    •        Update on the Regional Wage and Benefits Survey

    Please respond by Monday, March 3, 2025, at 5 p.m. to trina.mclaughlin@ialr.org to reserve your table and one complimentary admission.  Exhibitors are responsible for displays, and marketing materials – tables, table coverings, and chairs will be provided by the event organizers. Table set up will can begin as early as 7:00am and we ask that tables are complete by 8:30 a.m. on March 11. You can access the facility the afternoon of March 10th between 4:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

    About the Southern Virginia (SoVa) Taskforce:

    The Southern Virginia (SoVa) Taskforce, originally enabled by the support of GO Virginia Region 3, was formed to navigate the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19. It is comprised of economic developers and chamber executives spanning the entire Southern Virginia region. Through a cooperative approach, the taskforce developed numerous initiatives to successfully support business and industry, and it continues to convene on a regular basis with a focus on critical community needs including workforce retention and recruitment.

    The topic is "Membership Orientation". We will kick off with the business meeting and then we will discuss all things local and national SHRM. (Programs and events, the budgeting process, VA State Council, volunteer opportunites, etc)

    We will wrap up with a quick question and answer session.  Are you really using your local and national membership?  Are you getting your money's worth?  Does your leadership team know the value of SHRM?
