Vision, Mission & Code of Ethics


    Southside Virginia SHRM will be recognized as the local human resource management organization that supports and serves the area’s business and educational communities through professional development and continuing education.


    It is the mission of the Southside Virginia Society of Human Resource Management to serve as a recognized resource and provide leadership to its membership and the business and educational communities through sharing and promoting best practices in human resources management.

    Code of Ethics

    This Code of Conduct for the Southside Virginia SHRM has been adopted to promote and maintain the highest standards of professional and personal conduct among its members.  By joining Southside Virginia SHRM, a member indicates his/her support for upholding this Code and the understanding of his/her individual responsibility to act in accordance with the following items, thereby assuring that all Southside Virginia SHRM activities support the development, networking, and educational intents of this professional organization.

    As a member of the Southside Virginia SHRM, I pledge to:

    • Maintain the highest standards of professional and personal conduct.
    • Strive for personal growth in the field of human resource management.
    • Support the goals and objectives of the Southside Virginia SHRM for developing the human resource management profession.
    • Instill in the publish and other Southside Virginia SHRM members a sense of confidence about my conduct and intentions.
    • Uphold all laws and regulations relating to my activities.
    • Refrain from using my official positions either regular or volunteer, to secure special privilege, gain or benefit for myself.
    • Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
    • Recognize that Southside Virginia SHRM meetings, events, and/or any other Southside Virginia SHRM activities are times for networking and development, not times for sales contacts or self-promotion.

    Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in removal from the organization.
