“Legal Update – An Overview of the Changes in Law Affecting HR”
RJ Lackey after being a partner for 13 years with Woods Rogers, RJ decided it was time to start his own practice. He works with business clients on all aspects of commercial and transactional law, and within the past 15 years, has helped clients on multiple business transactions exceeding $400 million in value. RJ’s clients include medical practices, entrepreneurs, real estate developers, contractors, banks, and general business clients. He works with clients both large and small to help them tailor solutions to their business needs. Many regard him as a partner and counselor rather than just an attorney.
In the labor and employment law practice group, RJ’s work focus includes race and sex discrimination claims, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. RJ drafts drug and alcohol testing policies, employment contracts, noncompetition and non-solicitation agreements, resignation agreements and releases, personnel manuals, and other employment policies for both public agencies and private companies.
RJ conducts employment investigations, counsels’ management on employment law, and teaches management employees. He has handled numerous grievances and complaints before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Virginia Employment Commission.
He is a frequent speaker on employment law topic and on entity formation and business management.
A native of Richmond, Va., RJ lives in Danville where he has volunteered with Goodwill Industries, the Danville Concert Association, youth soccer leagues, Project Celebration, and the Danville School Board.
