Speaker: Bert Eades with Genedge
Presentation: Trust: studies show that the level of trust people have in government, media, and their own managers is declining. Bert will review some of this data, why it’s so concerning, and five key behaviors to build trust. Stephen Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, describes trust as “the foundational principle that holds all relationships.” In the workplace, trust is critical—it allows teams to engage in open dialogue, collaborate effectively and make sound decisions. Yet, according to a recent Gallup survey, trust is on the decline across society, including in key institutions like healthcare, politics, media and business leadership. In this discussion, we’ll explore five essential behaviors that help build trust, along with some common actions that can undermine it. We’ll also examine how a leader’s inaction—what they don’t do—can be just as damaging to trust as what they do.
