- Chris asked if we should have a presence at ShowBiz trade show this Fall? Discussed that we have done it in the past and felt that it didn’t yield enough result. Kristina commented that from her experience the cost would likely outweigh the benefit and we could attend and share our SHRM cards with people we meet instead. Petrina suggested we consider it for next year as it would take more effort to organize and plan.
- Chris shared a list of all folks who have attended as guests to our chapter this year and asked if we could divide this list up. After sharing who has spoken with whom, we determined that everyone has been reached already except Christal Pinchback and Connie Walton. Chris said he will reach out to those two.
- Chris followed up with National on by-laws and has yet to get a response to any of his communications. He has made a decision that we will move forward with the by-laws we have now and if anyone questions them in the future, he will have the email correspondence to show we made effort to get feedback. He will discontinue pursuit of response from National and consider our by-laws approved.
- Our joint membership has dropped to 47.5%. Even giving away a National membership will not give us the 50% we need. We need an additional three members to become National members. One is free and we will offer it again at the July meeting since the previous winner was Andrea and she will not be able to utilize it to our benefit. We also discussed offering a 50% off National membership opportunity to two additional members. First come, first served. Give application and $75 (half of National membership fee) to Lisa Hines. Ron made this motion, Shirley seconded it. All approved with affirmative vote. The opportunity will be presented to the membership at the July meeting.
- Chris raised the topic that Andrea was unfortunately displaced from her job and lives in Forest now. She has lost some of the connections she had while working her. She still has her Chapter membership, but is concerned that she cannot meet her obligation on the board as College Relations Chair for 2017 and wants to step down from her role. Should we leave it unfilled for the next few months until 2018 elections? Motion was made by Kristina to leave the role vacant until the next election cycle to give us time to encourage other candidates to come forward for the role for a 12 month term vs. the remainder of this term. Connie seconded the motion. It was approved by affirmative vote.
- Ashley sent Chris an email to confirm presentations for remainder of year. Said that unfortunately she would not be able to continue in her two year term next year as her work is taking her out of town too much. She is committed to ensuring the remainder of programs for 2017 are in place. At the election cycle, we’ll need to ensure she is replaced as she will not be serving in this role for 2018.

- Chris said he accountant stated that he didn’t know of any other than one place that would do a non-profit financial audit and they would charge a fortune. Chris asked Board members to reach out to other groups to see who they use. Could use a past treasurer or a member who works for a financial institution to do the audit.
- Lisa has our RADA catalogs. We need to organize our process. We would kick this off next week and hand out catalogs. We need a point person. Kick off Weds - July 26 - allow two weeks to collect orders. August 7 - orders would need to be in. Real deadline will be August 9. Money goes to Lisa at LE&D. We need some volunteers to go pick up orders/checks. Last minute ones you can bring to Christine at DPCS at 245 Hairston Street or Shirley at First State. Lisa will tally up orders and turn order in. Knives would be in by the August meeting and we’ll coordinate delivery.

- Topics to be announced and communicated to Connie and Susan. Connie mentioned that we need follow up regarding whether we will receive HRCI/SHRM credits for last month or the month before. Chris will check with Ashley. Also, we need to ensure we have credits available for this month’s program.
- Kristina will introduce the speaker, Katy Caselli. Christine will bring the speaker gift and Kristina will present to speaker.

- Ron reported that WIOA has a new provider. They have some OJT money and incumbent worker money, but many employers are unaware or unsure of how to apply. Ron visited an apprentice program in Guilford County, NC. He will meet with Julie Brown next Weds. at IALR just before out meeting to discuss how we can model something similar. Also, he has good testimonials about how VEC has helped coordinate assessments for his organization. Chris asked if we should put Ron on the agenda to update the Chapter of these topics next week. Ron agreed to do so.

- Andrea is stepping down from the role due to job and location change. Will elect someone new for the 2018 position.

1. Petrina raised a discussion about use of scholarship funds. Ronnie made motion for a special “Honorary Scholarship for Outstanding Board Service” to be awarded to Christine Thompson in the amount of the cost to take the certification test. Ron seconded the motion. All present wholeheartedly approved. Lisa has course CDs and Ron has books at no cost to the Chapter that they will loan to Christine for this endeavor. Chris will be notifying Christine of the award.
