    Southside SHRM Board Meeting Minutes

    July 18, 2018

     

     

    Attendees:   Ronnie Pannell, Angie McAdams, Shirley Hodge, Janice Brink, Christine Thompson, Petrina Carter, Susan Watkins, Vicki Davis, Chad Younger

     

    Meeting was called to order at 12:12 p.m. by President Ronnie Pannell

     

    • Ronnie opened the meeting by welcoming everyone, especially Vicky Davis newly appointed Foundation Chairperson
    • Ronnie presented the Agenda to the board with an addition of discuss about Christy Oakes father passing away
    • A motion was made to accept the Agenda by Chad Younger and seconded by Angie McAdams
    • Ronnie passed out to board members a copy of the Quarterly Report for the Southern District to include Danville, Roanoke, Lynchburg, and Martinsville
    • Ronnie provide Board Members with a current copy of Board Member Directory
    • Attending board members presented their roles to new board member Vicki Davis

     

    SHRM WEEK October 2018

     

    • Discussion was held concerning our chapter’s involvement in SHRM Week October 2018
    • Vicki Davis to contact Two Witches about holding the event at their venue October 25, 2018 alternate date October 18, 2018
    • Angie McAdams to contact the Chamber regarding their possible partnership in event
    • Once more information on the event is available, it was agreed that board members would individually approach chapter members at their table to see if they will commit to helping with event.

     

    A motion was made by Petrina Carter and seconded by Susan Watkins to make a donation of $100.00 to ALS in memory of Christy Oakes father.   Motion was accepted by unanimous vote.

     

    Workflex in the 21st Century Act letter of support was sent to Ronnie requesting Southside SHRM’s support in writing. The letter was discussed and board members agreed that we did not have enough information to make the decision to sign the letter of support on behalf of South Side SHRM Chapter.

     

    Programs Chair- Petrina Carter reported that programs for remainder of year were coming along nicely. 

     

    Membership Chair- Christine Thompson reported that we currently have 61 paid members, as of this date only 18                           members have registered for the July Chapter meeting

     

    Workforce Readiness Chair- Chad Younger reports that DCC will be offering OSHA 10- OSHA 30 certification classes, Supervisor / Leadership classes, and PHR certification prep class.

     

    Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Susan Watkins and seconded by Christine Thompson

    Meeting was adjourned by Ronnie Pannell at 1:16 p.m.
