REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
Wednesday, July 31, 2019
WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER
The Southside Virginia SHRM chapter met for its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 31, at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in the first floor conference room.
The meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon by Ronnie Pannell, past president. Ronnie recognized members who had birthdays during the month of July.

- Ronnie shared that our local SHRM Chapter now has a Linkedin account.
- Betty Wilcher shared SHRM Certification updates
- Jan Brink shared information that a YARD SALE fundraiser is being planned for October 16th. Volunteers are needed for this event, donations can be dropped off to Vicki Davis at Barkhouser Ford
GUEST SPEAKER
Attorney R.J. Lackey served as guest speaker for the meeting. The topic of the presentation was "Legal Updates" Attorney Lackey touched on several subjects to include Hemp legalization, Trans Gender, Gender Identity, possible minimum wage increases, millennial discipline
FIFTY/FIFTY DRAWING
Chad Younger was the winner of the 50/50 drawing. The balance of the funds will be used to support the SHRM foundation.

The meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
