    Update

    Ronnie Pannell

    President

    1. Allison Moore resigns as the Foundation Director – accepted employment elsewhere
    2. State Council Meeting
    3. Statewide VASHRM Week
    1. June 15, 2018-Need to get a new Foundation Chair.  Alexis wants the Chamber to maintain their membership.  Susan W volunteered to do 50/50 until we secure someone.  The goal is to obtain Foundation Champion acknowledgement through campaigns and fund raising events.
    2. July 26-27, 2018, State Council Meeting is mainly for the board officers and district and functional directors.  Ronnie & Angie both will attend.
    3. October 2018, we will share our discussion about the Statewide VASHRM Week with our members next week to see if the general membership will support the event.  The purpose of this event is to promote awareness of local chapters to increase membership.  If the chapter supports the event,  then we will have someone from the board chair the event.  Jill Levinson & Jan Brink will serve on the committee to help steer this event.

    Angie McAdams

    President-Elect

    1. Bylaws reviewed
    2. 2018 SHAPE
    3. Thrive initiatives
    1. March 1, 2018 update-no update

    2.    No update

    3.    Another handout was issued regarding the Thrive initiatives.  Angie reported that the State Council wanted each chapter to speak to one initiative at the 7/27/18 State Council meeting that Ronnie P & Anige M will attend.

We can increase SSVSHRM membership via multiple initiatives:

    • Offer members/potential members updated payment methodology to provide easier & additional membership payment options.  Shirley is still working on this.  Petrina volunteered to research 2 options of online payment.  Chris W suggested we do a 1 year membership to test improvement of our A/R.
    • SVSHRM will work to increase student membership in the chapter.  LinkedIn Group-Jill has connected with them.  Also discussed student rate ½ charge of general membership and internship trade off for membership.
    • SVSHRM will expand upon its current advertising procedures in an effort to promote programming to additional local business representatives.

Questions to consider from the state office:

    1.  What would our chapter look like if it was fully & functionally thriving?  Member support/helping with events. Personal touch/one on one-ask members to accept role/accountability
    2. What can our Chapter do to help our members THRIVE in HR professions?  Providing programs and scholarships currently.
    3. How can we contribute to and help build a THRIVING workforce in our region?

There was discussion that a finance student could audit our financials and we could have students in charge of Chapter fun activities (Marketing/Communications). This would cover the second and third initiatives.  Susan D made a motion on this idea and Jan B seconded it.  All approved, so Angie & Ronnie will present this as our initiative at the 7/27 State Council meeting.
