    1. March 1, 2018 update

    2.    SHAPE report from this past year was distributed to everyone so we could review for upcoming year.  We attended the Leadership Conference in January and had representation at State Conference.  Next meeting is in Culpeper & the last in Lynchburg.

Hold an event that has anticipated attendance of 200+ and a minimum of 15 minutes of podium time to SHRM staff.  We have not done this & we discussed a conference for Fall 2018, but it was agreed to table this initiative until the first week of May next year (May 6-10, 2019)

The chapter was represented at the 2018 SHRM Volunteer Leaders’ Summit by the required board members.

Our Chapter promoted the SHRM Annual  Conference & Expo.

Monetary contribution from the Chapter’s funds to the SHRM Foundation is the amount of $250 by no later than 12/31/17.  We did this 10/4/17 and will do again in October 2018.

Conduct a leadership campaign to encourage board members & invite all members to support the SHRM Foundation through individual donations of $25 or more.  This was done with Leadership through a form created by Vickie Davis that was distributed.

We have hosted fund raising events for SHRM Foundation

We are on track from 2018 with actively promoting SHRM Certification and Recertification for the SHRM Certified Professional & SHRM Senior Certified Professional.

3  Thrive Initiatives-Designed to boost chapter attendance & growth.  We discussed multiple initiatives:  Updated payment methodology to provide easier & additional membership payment options.  Shirley Hodge’s bank will have information for us in July 2018 about options; increase student membership in the chapter-Jill L suggested we open up membership to business or other students with a HR interest since we don’t have a local college that has a HR degree program & we offer students ½ the cost of regular dues; expand our current advertising protocol in an effort to promote program to additional local business representatives.  We discussed utilizing social media and other events.

    OTHER ITEMS

Christy Oakes asked Christine T to report out on Admin Day.  Disappointed that we didn’t have gifts to give attendees.  At present, 24 attendees have not paid at $25/each.  Christy said she hasn’t had time to follow up on the attendees that haven’t paid.   The speaker was good, but she only spoke for 15 minutes.  Attendance was down & Chris W said we should compose a letter to send to attendees apologizing for the caliber of event this year and own it and explain to stay tuned because we are going to give you a 25% discount to attend our next public event in 2019.  There was discussion to go ahead and order the jump drives and sent it to those that did attend, but it was tabled not to send the gifts at this point.  However, a letter will be drafted by Chris W. coming from Ronnie P & the board.  It was agreed we will send letter with $5 gift card as a token of apology since their attendance fee included a gift.  This will only go to attendees that have paid.  This will not be sent to scholarship recipients since we paid for them to attend.  Chris W made a motion to send $5 Starbucks gift card and Betty W second.  All were in favor.

2019 State Conference is in Norfolk, VA 4/7 - 4/9 and should not conflict with Administrative Professional’s Day.
