    1. SHAPE document management – need to stay on top of audits monthly -

Met with membership committee.  National gave them dates that National memberships expire.

We presently have 27 chapter members that are also National members and our goal is to have 50% of our paid members National.  We currently do not meet the criteria so we need to work on techniques to increase our Chapter’s National membership enrollment.

Took care of contribution to SHRM Foundation.

Information package is forthcoming.  We earn 40% of what we sell.  We plan to kick this off at our July 26th meeting.  Orders and money must be returned to Lisa Hines by Friday, August 11, 2017.  It can be dropped off at her office LE&D Professionals at 110 Exchange Street, Suite B, Danville (she is across the street from Enterprise Car Rental).  Rada Product Booklets are .20/each.  We had a motion to order 40 booklets by Petrina Carter and second by Ronnie Pannell.  All present were in favor of the motion.  Top seller will receive a notepad and gift card.

    1.  6/1/17, An electronic discussion took place, amongst the board, regarding the chapter sending a monetary donation to the Gretna Baptist Church parking lot fund in memory of Laurie Moran’s passing.  A motion was made by Chris Wilson to donate $150 and there was a unanimous vote by the board to support the motion. Pam Payne

    Secretaries

    1.  Kristina is still out of town and may possibly be present for our July board and regular meeting; however, we probably will                                not see much of her after that as they permanently relocate.

    Linda Moore

    Christine Thompson

    Membership Chairs

    1. Analysis on national members in the area who are not SSVA Chapter Members and a recommendation on how we might reach them
    2. Brochures:  Once completed, we plan to mail these to National members to attract this population and others to our chapter.
    • Pricing digitally $170 for 200 brochures and $231 for 500.  Linda reported that we have the completed brochure on a flash drive now.  A motion was made by Lisa Hines to print 500 brochures and second by Shirley Hodges.  All present in favor.
    1. We have 12 paid Southside SHRM members that have now attended 3 of the 5 regular meetings.  We will put their names in a drawing for a paid National SHRM membership.
    2. We had a member leave and a new employee take their place, so a motion was made by Susan Watkins-Dalton to give them a new member gift and second by Lisa Hines.
    3. We do invoice $20 for guest attendance after their first visit.  It was discussed and decided that guest information will be emailed to Chris starting with our July meeting.  Chris will ask each board member to reach out to a guest to thank them for coming and share the advantages of being a member of our chapter and inquire about whether they may be interested in joining.  We will go back to January 2017 and reach out to all guests that have visited us to date.  Christine Thompson will get a list of names to Chris.  Assignments will be given to board members and we will have until our next board meeting to complete our task.

    Ashley Anthony

    Christy Oakes

    Program Chairs

    1. Efforts to fill in two final speaker spots in the fall

In Ashley’s absence, she sent Chris an email to notify that the speaker for July is lined up.  Active Shooter Presentation.

    • August meeting:  Allison Moore, Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce Business Services Manager, will present about employer funding for incumbent workers.
    • September meeting: Open
    • October meeting:  Chapter Planning
    • November meeting:  Virginia Veteran’s Program, sharing employer incentives for hiring veterans.
    • December meeting:  Christmas celebration

    1. Due to our June speaker charging $175 fee, there was discussion about whether we pay speakers who present to our chapter.  We cannot pay speakers, but can make a donation to the Foundation in lieu of.  We will pay for their lodging or meals expenses, but not the presentation.  We can also pay the presenter if we are charging for attendance to hear the presentation.  Therefore, we will need to determine if our June speaker’s fee is a result of travel/lodging/meal expenses.
