Ashley Anthony formerly resigned due to her work schedule. She turned everything over to Chris Wilson. We will have to find someone to replace her since she was serving the 1^st of a 2 year term.
Chris expressed to Board members to voice if they need help in their volunteer role. Although we all have assigned roles on the board, we have enough depth to help others who may be overwhelmed due to their work schedule and board duties. Chris will also have a conversation with upcoming President, Ronnie Pannell, on the role of the Program Committee. May need to consider restructure of the committee to assure that it’s not a burden on those that volunteer in this capacity.
Chris reminded attendees that the President & President Elect have a planning meeting sponsored by National SHRM in November 2017 for the upcoming board term role.
Chris reminded attendees of the January 2018 meeting sponsored by our Virginia State SHRM to educate incoming board members on their role. VA State SHRM will pay for up to 5 board members to attend, so it’s important that will identify early who will fill those roles.

Fundraiser for Chapter RADA – will end at our September meeting 9/27/17. All orders should be turned in to Lisa Hines by this date. Chris will send another email reminder 9/25/17, so continue to talk up RADA sales.
Recognition for Kristina Barkhouser –Kristina will let us know her October schedule next week so we can plan a future date to treat her to dinner.
Chris, Petrina, & Betty are still working on CEU credentialing sessions to assist those who are certified. Betty will speak on the topic at our Chapter meeting 9/27.

Ronnie is working on an email to go out to Chapter membership regarding elections. Start talking up those you feel would be good for the board.
Board elections are coming up and we need to start thinking about participation on our board.
1. Who on the board will end their position this year?
2. Who might make good board members?
3. Who may be someone you want to serve with you if you are serving a 2 year term.

Lisa sent Gail Epps another message regarding doing our Chapter audit, but hasn’t heard back from her….will try again. UPDATE @ time of submitting minutes…Gail Epps now has the books.
RADA Fundraiser. To date, Connie Alderson & Pam Payne are the only ones to turn in a RADA order this time.
A projection of our cash flow was presented by Lisa for the remainder of this calendar year. Excluding our CD, the grand total was $4,575.11 cash on hand @ years end. It was estimated that the January 2018 Board & Membership lunches would be $625 (based on 2017 checkbook history), until membership dues start coming in will leave an estimated balance of $3,950.11.

Several weeks ago a letter was sent out to approximately 71 National members that are not local SHRM members. We had one person from PCCA join from this effort.

Christy was absent. There was board conversation regarding remaining meetings.

September Meeting -Allison Moore, Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce Business Services Manager, will present about employer funding for incumbent workers.

October meeting: Chapter Planning. Discussion on new board members.

November meeting: Virginia Veteran’s Program, sharing employer incentives for hiring veterans.

December meeting 12/13: Christmas celebration. Chris asked for ideas to flow his way for a theme for this meeting. Lisa Hines & Pam Payne agreed to assist Chris with planning of this meeting. An email will be sent out to both to schedule a future planning meeting.

Foundation Chair

Will prepare a communication to be sent out ahead of August Chapter meeting highlighting the work of the foundation and reminding folks to get involved. No update on this 9/20.
Jessica reported she had information on scholarships for undergraduate, graduate & certification that she will discuss with the membership at our regular meeting 9/27.

Workforce Readiness Chair

Recommendation on how workforce readiness will play a role in our chapter in 2017. Ron reported that he was the voice of Industry at the October Workforce Readiness Workshop at the VEC.

Recommendation/plan for how we might start to engage our colleges/universities for partnerships. NO REPORT 9/20.
